Anyone using a Victron IP65 charger for their batteries?

Featured Replies

I’ve been using this charger for my kayak 12v 100ah battery (I run a Xi3 trolling motor on the kayak). I recently bought a 12v 12aH for my Garmin 9v. The Victron charges at 10 amps which seems high. Is there a way to set up a lower current ‘profile’ so I can switch forth between batteries? I haven’t been able to find any good documentation or forum to dive into the deeper features of this thing.

The manual states that the low power mode is for charging lower capacity batteries. They don’t really explain it too well as to why that’s supposed to be OK.

My 24v IP67 can be configured to charge at either 12 amps or 4 amps.

The “low power” mode on the IP65 just states it is at 14.v instead of 14.7v so the charger can be used on lower capacity batteries.

It may have the ability to do it safely, but I would like to see a better explanation before I hooked up a smaller capacity battery and to avoid just hoping for the best.

I have an IP65 15 amp. It has a 4 amp low power mode. I think the low power mode on the 10 amp IP65 is 3 amps. I would think that would be fine for your battery. I'm assuming it's a LifePO4 battery with a quality BMS that would protect the battery if you did something wrong.
