$215 to-my-door for two mint condition old magnesium JDM reels - one first gen Steez (with a SV spool), one first gen Aldebaran - I'd say it's a pretty good deal.

8'10" long and throws 8-20 oz swimbaits? And, now you have two of them?

Don't be skipping arm and shoulder days at the gym ;~)

I've posted this in another thread.  My lake run brown/rainbow setup.  I drew first blood with it a couple of weeks ago when we had a warm stretch.  I was rewarded with a 26" brown that I caught on a Hot n Tot in the Ghost UV pattern.  Setup is a Calcutta Conquest BFS XG on a Smith Troutin'Spin 7'4" 5-16g.

Is the "Shimano" reel from AliExpress?

I've seem them on there and was intrigued.

Looked like a cross between a Stella and Exist.

How does it feel compared to the name brand reels?

A new Zillion SV TW 1000L and like new Okuma Hakai.  Put the Zillion on a Witch Doctor Shaman 7' MHF that was purchased used some time ago, but my first time using the rod.  Put the Hakai on an ALX Deputy (7' 1" MHF) that was purchased new when they ran a sale a few years ago, but I had only used it maybe twice before (due to life happening).

This week I bought a spinning Expride and a casting Zodias rods.  Didn't need them but purchased them used and thought they would be fun to try out.

I had that rod, but it's a bit tip heavy IMO. Otherwise it's a good rod.

Would an 8 oz. reel help the balance?

Nice.  I always go to Japan Lure Shop first if I'm in the market for something JDM 👍.

I did put an 8+ oz TD Zillion on it. It helped a little, but not enough for me. I eventually sold it after several trips.

That's funny.  A Zillion is what I thought about trying.

It's personal preference of sort. The person who bought it from me apparently loves it - he had already had a Deputy, besides a couple of other Zolo rods.

For sure. I have this rod as well, and it is a little tip heavy, like @newapti5 said. I mostly fish spinnerbaits on it. For moving bait applications where the tip is usually down, I don't mind a tip-heavy rod as much as, say, when I'm fishing bottom contact baits.
