Lowrance LMX-1 and speakers

Featured Replies

Just bought the LWX-1 for the HDS and used the audio jack in the IM to connect a pair of speakers. Sounds comes out of the speakers but it is very weak. The speakers are new along with all the wiring. Any advice?

The Lowrance LWX-1 Sirius Marine Weather Module is fully compatible to display weather on all Lowrance HDS GPS chartplotters. With a Plug and Play Ethernet connection, you are able to network this weather module to more than one HDS unit and you have the ability to interface this module with an onboard sound system when you include radio with your Sirius subscription for stereo quality music and sports.

That's a description from the GPS store.

That jack at the back is for plugging into your existing onboard sound system (aka Stereo).  It's not a speaker plug.

You may need a pair of amplified speakers like the ones for a PC. I have as set I use with an MP3 player on my boat that runs on batteries.

OK thanks guys.

I see marine speaker amplifiers on the internet. Would these help or do they just work on an already installed stereo?
