Ive got an old tiller steer Evinrude18 hp fastwin that has the little handle for shifting gears [forward and reverse].what is the easiest and cheapest way to rig a shifter up by my seat. I hate to get up evertime I have to change gears..

You will probably to find a remote control for that older motor.  The cable actually connects to that lever and has a bracket that holds it to the side of the motor.

What are you doing about the gas, the same remote also does the gas.   It seems sinse it's tiller steering, you'd have to be with the motor to use the throttle and steer it.

Depends on where you seat is in relation to where/how you steer it. Gotta agree with Way2Slow, it makes no sense to have remote shift with a tiller steer. The motor is not so wide that you cannot reach the other side to shift when operating the tiller/throttle unless you have an extra, extra long tiller for stand-up operation like for some commercial applications.
