weak battery
good morning - I'm having a problem with my trolling motor batteries. The batteries don't have a lot of staying power and weaken very qiuckly. The batteries are a everstart brand[ max29] trolling motor type and was bought in Aug. of 06.I recharge them after every trip out and check the water level once a year. Looking at the cells it seems that every other cell has a chalk like coating covering the plates. Is this a sign of a defective battery or just part of the aging process. The batteries that came with my Champion lasted six years and I changed them only because of their age.I guess new batteries are needed and I won't be using Everstart thats for surethanks - Ken Blevins chantil@roadrunner.com

sedona 2000 help
I left my sedona in the pickup the other evening and after about 4 inches of rain and 12 hours later I fished it out of 6 inches of water. It worked ok but made a light groaning sound and wasn't nearly as smooth. Long story short is that I tore it down cleaned, oiled and lubed everthing needed.the problem is the switch that prevents the spool from counter rotating isn't working.I tore it down again and could find nothing wrong. I don't know the correct terms for the parts and pieces but if anyone has a solution , Icould sure use the help.. The worst part is seeing my wife grin and shake her head as if to say "I told you so"...Thanks for your time Ken Blevins PS I just bought another reel - that will show her

Splicing transducer cable
I bought a new champion in 2000 and promply cut the transducer cable .Spliced it back togather, electrical taped it . and then liquid rubbered it [twice ] and its worked like new for seven seasons. The guys at the boat store said it was best to buy a new cable and transducer ,which I did , but never needed it......Just my .02 cents Ken Blevins

buying 2 new reels - anybody have these?
Actually I almost always flip it closed by hand ,rarely by the handle,. Even doing this the bail spring won't seat it snugly. All in all it's still a good reel Ken Blevins

buying 2 new reels - anybody have these?
I've got a 2 yr old capricorn that worked fine until a couple months ago . now the bail spring has weakened to the point that I have to close the bail by hand to get it completely seated .Other than that it works fine... Ken Blevins

cleaning reels???
I've decided to try my hand at cleaning my bait casting reels this winter. I tried one about 5 yrs ago [el cheappo] and it was never any good after I got finished. It wasn't any good before but my cleaning did no good. Most of my more heavily used reels are Shimane 201's -201SF-200 , Chronarchs 101and a couple of Garcia C-4's[cat fish].I guess what I need to ask is what kind of tools ,oils etc I will need to have on hand. What web site do you use to order replacement parts for shimano--diagrams - exploded pictures. ? And just some general helpful tips on what to look for Thanks in advance Ken Blevins
