I am thinking of upgrading a Chronarch MGL to a new Metanium 150B to throw cranks (use Bantam for deep cranks). Will the Metanium out cast the Chronarch with crank baits? I use 20 lb braid to leader.

Never even so much as laid eyes on a chronarch MGL. 
 

But if you’re planning on only throwing thick diameter line, then this is one of the rare instances I’d suggest getting the USDM model.

 

No idea on casting vs chronarch though.

The new Met will outcast the Chronarch all day long if that is what you are asking...

I don't care which one reel will out cast the other, I don't "test" them for distance. But the Met B is a MUCH better all around reel than the Chronarch MGL. Feels more solid and is a lot smoother while under a load. It would be 10x better at cranking IMO.

This is exactly what I would have guessed. But I haven’t owned a chronarch in about 10 years.

 

Also agreed on the smoothness for cranking. The Met is a solid reel.

As a follow up, I ended up getting a JDM Metanium. That was my first direct from Japan purchase. So far I like the smaller spool for small to medium cranks. Casts great. I’m able to set my brakes to 2 off, 2 off, 2 on outer brake and fire away. I have seen complaints on the smaller handle on the JDM’s. So far it doesn’t bother me.
