Humminbird 565 high speed transducer

Featured Replies

Does anyone know if a high speed transducer can be bought for the humminbird 565. I bought this unit in the portable model for my canoe last year but have since bought a bass tracker and I am trhing to get this to work on the front deck to show me the water depth while I am motoring. I am having no luck, as soon as I get over 4-5 miles and hour then the depth numbers just blink until I slow down to almost nothing.

Has anyone figured out a solution to this problem. I really dont want to have to purchase a new unit, but I am driving blind now not knowing how deep the water is that I am in.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Its all in the transducer placement, you must have some kind of disturbance around your transducer ie air bubbles, if you still have the manual for the 565 read through how to install the transducer and it will explain good and bad places. This should let you get pretty fast and still read bottom. One part in my manual for the 727 said it is hard to out run a sonar beam.

Is the transducer setup you have now suction cup mount and the transducer shaped like a wedge or the transducer shaped like a hockey puck? If it is the wedge shape, all you need is the kick-up bracket to replace the suction cup mount. If not, this is the transducer part number you need---

If your transducer is the wedge shape and the suction cup will hold on the hull at speed, you don't have it mounted in the correct location at the correct level. The transducer has to be wet all the time to give you depth readings all the time-in your case, it isn't. The wedge shaped transducer is the high speed transom transducer.

Try a different location.  My Tracker doesn't lose the bottom until I hit 30 MPH.
