Iowa Bass Spots

Featured Replies

Good afternoon.  After checking the weather for the next week, I thought that I would daydream and see if anyone has tips for bass fishing Brushy Creek Lake.  I am a transplant from the south and have been fishing up here for a few years but Brushy has me stumped when I go.  And due to a lot of tournaments on the lake, it seems that most people are tight lipped on techniques.

I usually fish Big Creek, the Pine Lakes, and a lot at Lake Delhi last year. Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks

Pretty much all lakes in Iowa fish the same. Channel swings and trees close to them. Man-placed rock piles of there are any. Usually most of the lakes have very small amounts of productive water and are “spot lakes” and once you figure them out they are pretty easy to reproduce. Get on Google earth and go back in time to see if you can find anything when the water was down.

I have not fished at Brushy yet but I'm planning to fish a tourney there this summer.

Did you fish any of the Tuesday night tourneys on Delhi?  The Mississippi River and Lake Delhi are basically my home waters.

Yes.  Just started last year.  I fished about half of the Tuesday nighters and the September all day tourney this year.  We bought a place on Delhi last March so I try to make the drive during the week when I can.  It has been fun trying to figure it out also. Plus the added benefit of hooking into smallies.

Brushy is just a different type lake with it being a flooded valley and trees everywhere.  I guess shallow is better during the summer!
