Hydraulic Jack Plate Tips or Warnings

Featured Replies

Are there any tips or warnings you can give me regarding operating a bass boat with a hydraulic jack plate?

Tips are great but really want to hear any warnings.

Thanks

They are extremely dangerous and can cause the boat to stand on end and flip over backwards.  I would suggest you just send it to me and let me dispose of it for you?.

However, if you insist on using one, especially on a river boat, shallow water boat, tunnel hull boat or hi-performance bass boat.  You will wonder why you didn't do it a long time ago.

The only thing I can think off is raising higher the water intake and sucking air in lieu of water.

Keep in mind the engine set back future when back up parking your rig.

They are great - just learn slowly. If you have the depth, trimming down on take-off and lifting while running makes a big difference on both ends as opposed to a single height settting. Watch your water pressure gauge closely until you get comfortable with your settings, especially on turns when it's prone to drop. Might have to drop back down a little or run not as high overall. Dropping all the way down in very rough or choppy water can make a big difference in ride comfort and safety, also.
