Haines City/Winter Haven 3-21/3-25 small lake suggestions for kayak fishing????

Featured Replies

Hello all, first post though I've referenced site for years.  Heading to Haines City 3-21 to 3-25 staying at a place on Tower Lake.  Any fishing info on this lake would be greatly appreciated!  I'm also going to fish some other lakes in the area and have been researching places to go.  Found an invaluable website that lists all Polk county access sites, as well as topo maps for most lakes listed.  Right now I have a list of 14 I'm trying to narrow down.  Here are a few I'm leaning toward heavily, as of now:  Buckeye Lake, Lake Confusion, Lake Marie, Lake Menzie, Lake Ship, Lake Summit.  Some, like Summit and Ship, seem to be mentioned in lots of articles about good bass fishing, others like Confusion and Marie and Menzie, I'm leaning toward due to their small size and proximity to my location.  I figure if they are too small for glass boats maybe they are less pressured, as well as easier to navigate and figure out.  Open to advice from those in the know.  Thanks and tight lines!!!!!

I don’t know any of the those you listed.

The only ones I’ve fished in that general area is Placid, Grassy and Crooked.
They would be a little ride south of where you’re at but all have good fishing especially now.

All 3 are located off Rt 27 north of Rt 70.

I would investigate if Kayak fishing is practical or allowed before you go if you decide.

There is another thread on here about gator’s when using a kayak or canoe on Florida lakes.
I suggest you find it.

Try Tenoroc State Fish Management Area Between Haines City and Lakeland. Do some research they’re only open four days a week.

Lake Swoope is nice. Usually Clearwater with lots of lily pads and eel grass.
