HELP!!!!! trolling motor foot pedal cable went slack

i was out on the water to day stopped at a sandbar and when i went to leave my trolling motor pedal just flops so i get home take the bottom off (minn kota maxxum 80 ) to see if it came off the pulley and that's fine its just slack so i try moving the tm and one side has tension but the other just slack wondering if it came lose in the head im hoping i can fix it myself since i would have to ship to the nearest repair center any help would be greatly appreciated  100_1141.jpg100_1140.jpg

Pull the TM head off (only 4 screws.  There's a gearing system in there with both cables terminating at a metal bracket.  If that's OK, check the foot pedal by taking the bottom plate off.  If everythings OK there you've broken a cable.  

I agree with Cart7t.  Remove the head, there is a gear at the top of the inner shaft and the locking nut likely came loose.  Tighten it down and line up the teeth and you should be good to go.  

From the photos it doesn't appear you snapped your cable at the pedal, though it could busted be under the shrink tubing but not likely.

thanks for the tips guys took the head cover off and one of the wires came off the drum guess i had the tension to low hooked it back up and its good i took some pics of the process ill post them up later in case anyone else ever has the same problem ;D

one thing to remember put the wires on the right way went out to the lake and some how i had crossed the wire and my steering was backward lol to much sun ;D
