Stradic FL C2000S braid?

Featured Replies

Hey, I’m looking at purchasing a Stradic FL C2000S (from Japan) to mount on my St. Croix Premier ML. I intend to spool it with 10# power pro. To those of you who own this model, would that be overkill for the shallow spool, as in very little capacity to accommodate for that size? It will be my go-to setup for finesse fishing. Thanks

Braid is very thin and the shallow spool should hold enough line for most of your fishing. Unless you are planning to make bomb cast, you should be ok.

In saying that, i dont have any shimano 2000s spools. I do have some daiwa 2000s spools and they hold plenty of 10 lb braid for my fishing needs.

If you're buying the C2000S from Japan, that's a great choice for braid.

The US-market FL2000 is the same high-geared version as Japan C2000SHG

No not at all, just put a thin a layer of mono on the spool so the braid wont slip and your good to go.

I use electrical tape on the spool.

Sometimes I'll tape the knot also to keep it from slipping on the spool.

You should be able to fill a lot more than 100 yds especially with 10lb PP braid on 2000S. PP braid is a little bit thinner compare to other brand in smaller line size. I even use some backing on my Vanford c2000s.

Never used Power Pro, but recently put a full 200 m of PE#0.6 X-braid on my salty C2000SHG.

Other spools this size, I've loaded with slightly thicker Florida Fishing Products braid, and much thicker and well-behaved Sufix 832.

I'll throw up again the Pattaya Fishing Line Capacity Calculator

This is the version for Stacking Lines of Different Diameter, and has proved to be quite accurate.
