Inflatable Boat or Fishing Buddy with Boat-St. Louis, MO Area

Featured Replies

Hi guys I Am looking for an inflatable fishing boat that I can use to fish the St. Louis Area's. I figure I would go places like Horshoe Lake, Creve Coeur Lake, Spanish Pond and Blue Lake all in Spanish Lake, MO Area, Bull Shoals, Mark Twain, Lake of the Ozarks and Various lakes around St. Louis.

A friend of mines laughed at me because I wanted to get an inflatable boat, he says it will sink. Do any of you use inflatable boats and if so how do you like them?

What are your recommendations for an inflatable boat? I just want something I can use for 1-2 people to catch those fish hanging in the 35-45 Ft deep waters. It is summer and fishing from the bank sucks, unless you want cat fish.

If you have a boat and would like a fishing buddy please let me know, I would love to hang with you.

Lloyd, I used to fish out of a SeaEagle 9 (www.seaeagle.com) until I bought my Tracker. I loved it, but wanted to fish bigger water. The raft is very stable and almost impossible to sink without the use of a hand grenade. It has five flotation chambers. It's also very rugged. I've never had a leak.

The boat is currently for sale for $550 and includes the SE9 fisherman's package, a trolling motor and depth finder. All are less than three years old.

I will be headed for a private fishing preserve near Moberly this Sunday (Fathers Day) and can meet you in Colombia and show you the boat if you wish. Alternatively, I can meet you next Tuesday on the way back. PM me if you are interested.

Here's a pic, showing a few of the modifications I've made.

Hi,

I appreciate the offer. If you have it for awhile, I would be glad to get it. I am short on cash now, I will make payments until I have enough cash and then contact you.

Thanks, I know I would love your setup.

I use the Sea Eagle 9 as well.  Works great.  Biggest problem I had with it was inflating the darned thing.  The foot pump is high powered but can wear you out!

I finally bought a Coleman 12 volt air pump that plugs into my car's cigarette lighter.  Now I sit back and let it do the work.

i ordered a seaeagle se 9 and received it a couple days ago, i have already used it 2 times and i love it.    i got the start up package and it was $299. went fishing in it the first time, and went on a 8 hour float trip down the chariton river in north missouri the 2nd time.  you cant go wrong with seaeagle boats.   they have a 3 year warranty and a 180 day money back guarantee. im real happy with mine

$299? That was a great deal! Did your start-up package come with the floorboards? You gotta have the floor boards.

And I've learned that you can simply keep the motor mount rigged up rather than take it completely apart after every use. That makes set-up a lot quicker. Just unload it, plug in the Coleman 12 volt electric pump, blow it up, toss the trolling motor on the mount and hit the water.

It's good stuff.

With the exception of the trolling motor mount, I built all the boards myself with nothing more than a jig-saw.  If anyone is interested, PM me and I'll send you the plans.

no broncoboxer i just ordered the startup package from seaeagle.com. and it included the boat, 2 oars, 2 inflatable seats, and a foot pump.

i plan on making the floorboards and seats myself to save some money

i plan on getting a trolling motor for mine soon, and was just wondering what size would be good to get. i was thinging about a 40lb- 50lbs of thrust

I power it with a 45 lb thrust electric Minn Kota trolling motor. The Sea Eagle 9 can go up to 70 something lbs of thrust. I recommend you go as high as you can afford.
