Any opinions on Humminbird fishin buddy series?

Featured Replies

I fish out of a canoe. Im looking for something to gauge depth and water temp more than anything, spotting fish is a bonus;). These look like a good, easy solution. No battery to lug and a quick easy mounting clamp. Im leaning towards the 130, any suggestions? Is it worth it to spend more, or are the upper models not that much better and go cheaper?

Thanks, Phil.

At one time BPS had these on sale for $99.  For a small boat or canoe I think they are ideal, especially if you are on a budget.  They don't have a very high pixel count so you are not going to get a "super" detail of the bottom but it will help you chart depth and contours for sure.  they also work well for ice fishing.  Any advantage you can get towards figuring out the fish is better than NO advantage.  IMO

I have one of the original ones made by Bottomline.  I use it on my 12 foot jon and it works great.  Batteries normally last one season.

I was looking at those when i baught my fish finder.. i ended up going with the portable piranah max by humminbird.. its nice cause now that i have a real boat i can just buy a power cord and make up a few mounting brackets and still use it..

The transducer shaft will create significant drag on a canoe (been there)
