I'm familiar with Stu Apte fly rods made by Diamondback, and that's about all that will google.  

My friend from FFR caught this nice bass on his Stu Apte Signature casting rod and a Shimano Core reel.  

 

He bought the rod from Offshore Anglers in the early '90s, and all he can put together from his research is the rod was made in Arkansas.  

Anybody familiar with these rods, their history, or their maker?  

 

 

 

 

 

Wouldn't a Google search have given you some places to start? Off the top of my head a name that have been in the rodbuilding world all that time and has a history of helping smaller starts. RebRods, sometimes better known as dorbeR, no I didn't spell it wrong.

That's exactly the kind of information I'm sure John is looking for, and he has a subscription on this thread.  Thanks for the information.  The advice may be questionable - John turned here because he has exhausted what he can find online.  

Denali rods are made in Mountain Home, Arkansas. You might check with them-they make good rods.

Offshore Angler is the saltwater house brand rod from BPS, and that matches the "OA" designation shown in this pic and online with other vintage Stu Apte rods from that lineup; "C" = casting. I know it breaks a little with the Arkansas link, but I've seen it mentioned numerous times on several different forums that the saltwater line of rods around that time frame was made by Star. A different company makes them now (Blackfin?).
