half the time my buzzbaits come through the water slanted. anyone else have this problem? how can i fix it?

If you mean like laying on it's side, I've found that some BB's will do that if you're really burning them across the water.  Try slowing your retrieve a bit.  If you mean running off to one side or another, make sure the prop is in line with the hook...just like with a spinnerbait.

Look at each bait from the front towards the back to make sure the front wire is straight and in line with the hook.  This also includes making sure the wire is not bent to the right or the left, but straight on towards the hook.

Then, look at the angle of the props to make sure they are not bent too low or too high, which happens when you catch a fish and the wire gets out of place.

Some buzzbaits do run on their sides, as said above.  This is normal.

As long as the biat swims straight back to you then the bait is tuned correctly.

I like the double bladed in-line buzzbaits as they make a different sound; come through the grass and pads easier; and produce just as good as the normal buzzbaits.

If I am catching fish on a buzzbait I will take time to reposition the blades so the bait runs true and not to either the right or left.  

However, with that said, I will still throw the bait if the bite is on and allow it to run to the right or left just to let it be different from all the other buzzbaits that have been thrown or to work it around some structure or boat dock.

BB's have to be "tuned" like many other lures, sometmes, right out of the box, sometimes, not till they've been tortured by many bass.

For a BB that runs true, out of the package, try a cavitron or clacker.

I have been known to have 3 buzz baits tied on at the same time.  One that will run straight, one running left and one running right.  I will use the ones that run left and right so I can bump them off cover, dock pilings, fence posts, laydowns, rocks, ect, ect.  I catch lots of fish when the BB changes direction as they come off the cover.

my buzzbaits run on their side when you burn em in. if you slow it down, they will bring themselves upright again.

I have been known to have 3 buzz baits tied on at the same time. One that will run straight, one running left and one running right. I catch lots of fish when the BB changes direction as they come off the cover.

I have some boat docks that I like to have cranks on that don't run true, they will run right or left, and they are marked as such,   running one under a portion of the dock can really put some good fish in the boat.

Most BBs will track to one side or the other due to the torque created by the blade.  Some blades are right-turners and some are lefties.  Each will make the BB track to one side or the other.  Double bladed BBs with counter rotating blades usually will produce a straight track.

Ceph, try adding a touch of weight on the hook shank with some sticky weight or a small shunk from a soft stickbait.  ALL my BBs have some kind of added weight for increased casting distance.  They have not impaired my hook-ups at all by doing this.  Give it a shot and let me know what you think.

Ditto although I normally only use a left and right. They can be very effective reaching under corners of boatdocks and when pulled along docked pontoon boats allowing the blades to bang against the pontoons................Al

This is also great when shore fishing and trying to run a BB right along a weed edge or the edge of some moss
