New vs Old Daiwa Tatula CT...???

Featured Replies

What's the difference between the 2020 Tatula CT (dark blue accents) and the 2016 Tatula CT (red accents)? Is it the same exact reel but only with a new color scheme/accents and that's it? Are there any improvements to the new CT on the inside that would make it a better buy over the old CT?

I did as much research and looking into the topic as I could for the last couple of days but I can't seem to find anything that would tell me the new CT is a improved reel over the old CT. I was thinking about getting the new CT but if there are no improvements and the only difference is a color scheme change, than I think I would rather just get the old CT off the second hand market and have some extra money for line and baits.

Sorry I have no answers ? but I’m wondering the same thing and if the spool is interchangeable. I’ve had mine for 2 seasons and feel it is better built compared to the new one I felt in store. Not sure how to describe it other than the old one feels tighter.

The new CT, like the new SV is built on the more compact Tatula 100 frame and is a little lighter and narrower. I'm pretty sure the spool is narrower.

I have no experience with the new CT, but bought my youngest son the new Tatula SV. I have three older ones. The thing about the new one is the drag star is a little plasticky, but overall it performs very well and is worth it imo for the lighter weight and more compact design.

I'm 99% sure they are the exact same reels with 2 exceptions, colour change and the handle knobs are smaller per this previous thread:

I actually really like the older knobs so ordered 2 more when TW had their run up to Christmas sale while I could still find them.
