How much Gas??

Featured Replies

Just curious:

Do you all fill up your boat tanks regularly or only put in enough for the trip your on?

Personnaly, I only put in about 5-10 gallons at a time.  My boat has a 35gal tank. Most of my outings are on lakes less than 1200acres and gas is heavy when towing.

I fill my tank after each trip. With the ethanol issue I don't want any extra space in the tank that might allow for condensation.

Being short on gas will have an effect on how or where I fish and I don't want that if I change a game plan during the day. At times I will carry extra gas with me if I know I am going to make a run. the lakes we fish are very large around here. It's not uncommon to run 20-30 miles or more to get to your fish.

My boat has a 55 gal tank, but for the most part is only filled about 1/2 way for weight.

I have two 6 gallon portable fuel tanks on my boat.  most of the times I only carry one and I usually only fill it when it gets below half. If I go to a bigger lake I will bring the other and fill them both on the way to the lake.

This is one of the great benefits of fishing 10hp lakes in an aluminum boat.

I have a 5 gallon tank that I top off once every 4 or 5 trips and seldom falls below half.

;)

i keep both my 14 gal. tanks full before every trip.

X2 except when I am staying at the lake for a week or so then I fill it all the way.

I have 2 26 gallon tanks and usually keep one full. I fill both for a major tounament .... I made a 50 mile run one way in the BFL a few weeks back

LMAO  That seems crazy..  With the smaller Michigan lakes I bet I don't travel 50 miles in the whole season

I was on Kentucky Lake ..... 50 miles is pretty common here ...... and that is only 1/3 of the way down the lake !!! Some ran 15 miles or so south of me !!!

I keep my tank full.

Fished a tournament this last weekend in my buddy's 08 Skeeter with a 250. spent 175.00 dollars for gas and 38.00 on oil for the three days. Now I know why I run a 150 on my boat. In his defense though, I ran up and down Rayburn looking for fish.
