I've recently acquired an old (possibly 1983) 16ft Gamefisher boat with a fiberglass hull. Its missing all data plates. It looks to me to be a modfied V hull.

I plan on converting this boat but need to find out its capacity ratings for HP, weight, and # people. So far my Google searches aren't turning up much.

Missing all data plates sounds kind of sketchy.

Do you have a title for this boat?

Serial number?

Anything?

I'd say your first option would be to check with the retailer that sold these boats.  That would be Sears.  They may have the information you are looking for in a catalog from the year that boat was built/sold.

You can also try to contact the folks at the link below, as they are behind the certification of various boats and their respective BIA plates.

x2 on something being funny about no plates. If there was not title its probably hot.

Luckily there's nothing fishy with the boat. Its just old. My step-brother gave it to me and it was his grandfather's. We used to take it out on the Potomac as kids. He has the title, just hasn't dug it out of his papers yet for me. If that has that same information on it as the data plate would, then I'll be alright.
