Bank fishing a fast moving creek

Featured Replies

Anybody have any tips for fishing a fast moving creek?

I had a bit of time over the weekend to fish one of my go-to's. I knew the creek would be up because we've had a lot of rain lately but I underestimated how high - and fast - it would be. Normally it's pretty still with a horribly mucky bottom so I generally fish weightless T-rigs or wacky rigs, but that seemed pointless in this current and it was.

I tried a swim jig. It snagged on something below the surface on the first cast and I had to break it off.

Then I tried an inline spinner (my dad's old standby, the Shyster) and actually did manage to catch a catfish, go figure, but that was the only bite I got in an hour or so. Is there anything else I should consider or should I just forget about catching anything and use the time to practice my casting techniques?
