Carbonlite 2.0 drag problem

Featured Replies

I've had this Carbonlite reel about a year now and have used it quite a bit.  I just returned from a Hells Canyon trip and the drag will not tighten up.  No matter how hard I try to screw it down.  No drag at all.  What do I do?  It's the JCT10SHHLA Super High Speed model.

Thanks for the comments.  (Islandbass - Yes, it has braided line on it.)  But I did figure it out.  Found a website on how to disassemble the reel, which I did.  found that one of the hard discs in the drag stack had "bent ears".  The ears are designed to sit in a notch in the frame, which they weren't.  Flattened them out and it works fine.  I suspect this happened because I've been told for years to back the drag off when storing my rods.  Maybe I backed it off too far?  Anyway, it works now and I've learned some new stuff.  It's a good day.
