Fishing Lake Without Trolling Motor

Featured Replies

I'm thinking of fishing Diamond Valley Lake in SoCal on Wednesday. Unfortunately, it looks like the bass boats (trolling motor + fish finder) don't appear to be available on the website anymore for that day. The only thing that seems to be available is the small aluminum boat with oar/anchor.

Since I will be fishing alone, is it worth going if I cannot secure one of those kinds of boats if I am fishing alone? Seems like a huge pain in the ass to just keep drifting and drifting or having to go back to the motor to re-adjust my positioning.

Pick up the phone and call them!

I wouldn’t fish DVL with a outboard engine, it can get windy quickly and impossible to return to the marina. You can troll with a small OB and anchor to fish points without the sonar & TM.
