question?

Featured Replies

Im a first time Bass Boat owner and I have a 1993 Force 90HP engine that has been sitting in my driveway because of bad/cold weather for the past 4 weeks my question is, is it safe to crank it up and run it or should I take it in to get it checked out first.

Yeah, just don't get too far from the launch ramp, LOL

Only joking  ;)

It should be fine if i'ts only been sitting that long since your last trip.

I got into the habbit of always adding some Sea Foam or some Johnson 2+4 to help "stablize" the fuel.  It has helped with starting and idle opeartion overall and espeicially if the boat sits  for a while.   The extra cost is worth better performance IMHO.

Amen to that!!!  paddling an 18ft bassboat with a 150 over a mile is NOT fun......

Been there, done that too.  Funny how you only have to do that once to learn the lesson.  LOL

Of course Murphy is always going to make it so the launch ramp is up wind and/or up current of where you broke down.  Plus it will be the only day of the year where there isn't another boat on the lake insight to ask for a tow.  >;)

Run it like you stole it........In the water, not in your driveway!

Just to reiterate, do not try to start your motor in the driveway unless you have water running to it.  You can burn up your water pump impeller in as little as fifteen seconds.

If you can run it out on the lake then that's what I would do. If you can't then make sure you have ears to hook up to the garden hose before you start it.

If you go to the lake, make sure your batteries are topped off or like the others have said it's not fun paddling a bass boat to the launch.
