Shimano Curado 150 MGL vs. Shimano Scorpion MGL

Featured Replies

So what are the real differences between these two reels? The new Curado MGL is $200 while you can get a new JDM Scorpion MGL for $156. I just wondered if the new Curado has some features that the Scorpion doesn’t to justify the higher price tag.

Looks to be a different frame and is lighter. May have aluminum gear?

I could be mistaken, but it seems that the Scorpion MGL is based on the frame of Curado K 200. They are pretty much identical, except the spools and different paint jobs.

The new Curado 150 seems to be based on the popular SLX frame, which is slightly smaller than Curado K 200's frame. The new Curado 150 also has the Silent Tune feature that Scorpion MGL doesn't have.

The new curado seems to be an all new frame. I have not seen this frame on any other shimano reels. Its suppose to be the lightest curado series to date. It does look interesting.

It may be the only curado I pick up since the last few variations. But there seems to be a lot of lines and crevices on the frame.

It reminds me of the prehistoric fish- dunkleosteus's  skull.

That's probably just the my imagination see it, though.
