Which Daiwa cast control better suited to specific techniques?

Featured Replies

Which Daiwa cast control (Magforce or Magforce Z) is better suited to each of:

Throwing 14g jerkbait minnows like the lucky craft pointer.

Unweighted Z-man hard leg frogs on worm hook

1/2 to 1 oz swimbaits

The weight of heavy (one ounce plus) lures seems to overcome the difference between Magforce and Magforce-Z response. I like Magforce-Z for lighter lures, especially lures that are not aerodynamic. At one ounce or above, I'd just as soon use linear braking.

I used to think that Magforce was better with braid, but now I'm not so sure. I have a new Tatula 150 with Magforce-Z, and it seems to do pretty well with the 50 lb. Sufix 832 I have on it. But I'm continuing to experiment, and when I get around to using heavier lures I may change my mind.

So for what you've listed,  @diehardbassfishing might be correct.  ?        jj

Where are the Daiwa guys? I’m not really a Daiwa fan but own quite a few. This is just my understanding and experience might be wrong though.

From all the Daiwa line up, now your question should look like Magforce Z versus SV (air brake system). The Magforce (fix inductor) only found in a few model, Lexa or highly tune Daiwa.

From my experience casting heavier weight, centrifugal > Linear magnetic (Mag Force)> Centrifugal magnetic (Magforce Z)> SV. This will go in opposite direction with lighter and not very aero dynamics.
If you want one reel that will do it all, SV might be the one, you got more control all around but loose some distance. If you only cast Senko and up Magforce Z will get you the most balance of distance and control. All the Daiwa can become fix/stationary inductor with a drop of super glue.

SV for lighter baits (weightless - 1/4oz) Z for 3/8 and up. My Tatula 150 with Mag Z chucks a jig or frog further than any of my linear magnet reels. The SVs don’t cast nearly as far but cast light baits way better
