IMX-Pro JWR use?

Featured Replies

I recently picked up a 7’1” IMX-Pro JWR MH XF baitcaster, it was a pretty good deal and a bit of an impulse buy and now I’m not really sure what to use it for to maximize its attributes…

What would this be best suited to?

JWR/Jig & Worm Rod

Correct, and I realize this.

Just wondering what guys would use it for specifically,  Jig & Worm covers a lot lol

also wondering what other techniques it may excel at?  Largemouth are not abundant up here so it’s fairly new to me compared to smallmouth gear

Obvious stuff is jigs and worms, but they are also excellent for belly weighted swimbaits/underspins, swim jigs, weightless senko, and  spinnerbaits.

Try what ever you like with it.

I have two of those rods. My favorite use is 3/8 jig with paca craw trailer, 1/4/3/8 t rig creature bait, swim jigs....but it can do lots of stuff. Just try it out.

That and the 852c JWR are two of my all time faves.

What are you using for a reel? I have a Calcutta 100 on it now and I’m just not liking it so thinking about shuffling reels around or maybe just buy something new for it.

I have a similar style rod in a different length (7'2"). I have a Metanium and Aldebaran I switch between. I was fishing cover scats, dark sleepers, free rigs, swim jigs and paddle tails on it today. I've thrown tubes on it also, which I rarely use in Florida, but I know fish will eat it because people rarely use them here.

I use mine for jigging spoons and Arigs.

I did throw an A Rig on it for smallmouth and I wasn’t sure how I felt about it but most of that was the reel. I will definitely try it again after swapping reels

I usa a Curado E7 most of the time on it but switch to a 5 for the Arig.
