I have really gotten into fishing the last few years and I am tired of being stuck on the bank. I don't want to invest in a bass boat or pontoon at this time but I am willing to buy a small watercraft.

 

Right now, I am about 6'3" 360 lbs. I have been shopping for kayaks and mini boats (like Bass Raider 10e or Pond Prowler) and I don't know which would be better.

 

I like the higher height of the mini boat but the easier portability of the kayak is also appealing. What are your thoughts? Input from fellow big guys is greatly appreciated.

Forgot to mention some details. This will be used on small and medium sized lakes. Mostly used for bass fishing but sometimes for crappie and other panfish. I want to add at least a basic fish finder to help my efforts.

dont know how much you wanna spend but i would say pro angler 14 , jackson big rig there are some others. both of those could be motorized with electric motors if wanted.

My kid has the Topwater 120, and I'm 6'3" and around 300lbs and I don't feel claustrophobic in that at all.

I have a Bonafide SS127, and that works well too although I'm having my fair share of problems with it, mainly the pads the seat sit on do not stayed glued and I have to reglue them everytime I go out so it doesn't wear through the hull (it's already starting to wear through the hull), and of course I have to let it dry for 24 hours just to hold in place for 2 so that's limiting my time on the water. To make it worse, customer service with Bonafide is non existent. If they'd send the original recall kit, that would solve the problem, but because mine has pads they deem it not an issue. I'm going to have to solve this due to some redneck engineering somehow, I just haven't figured out how yet.

 

Finally, the Hobie Pro Angler 14. It's expensive, but it's the ultimate fishing kayak. I'd say definitely take a look, they thought of everything.
