Eagle Fishmark 320 help

Featured Replies

So i got this for christmas and really didnt know much about it. I have the 320 protable version which uses D cell batts. Now after buying a boat i want to connect this to my battery instead of using 8 D-Cell batteries. Now i have a question about using the connectors to the D-cell batteries to connect it to my trolling motor battery. 8 Dcell = 12v which is the same as the TM battery. Would this be safe to do? Here is a few pics to show what i mean.

Cut the red & black wires and connect to battery.

Why wouldn't it?

It was a question. I just wanted to make sure. Just didn't want to mess anything up.

I'd add a fuse to the positive line.  I think its a 3 amp, but someone might verify that - been a while.

The 320 came with a 3 amp fuse so im guessing thats it. Thanks for the help for those who helped me.

make sure you have fuses for this.

Don't cut the wires, make use of the spade connectors you show in the photo. That way you can revert back to D cell use if you ever want to. Drill a small hole to pass a pair of wires out of the back, seal with RTV or something similar, and as others pointed out, get a 3 amp in-line fuse (automotive part store) on the Red lead.

Thats the smartest way to do it.  You can get the connectors pretty much at any Home Depot/Lowes or autoparts store.  Crimp em on and connect.
