Best places on Okeechobee during this windy cold spell?

Featured Replies

The next few days (and the last week!) are going to be 10-20 mph North NE winds..

I was in the Monkey box a few days ago--getting back was rough (175 Tracker w/75hp)

I'm based in Clewiston--any "protected" areas with clean water anywhere?

Tournaments have been won while fishing only the canals that connect to the main lake.  The north west side have extensive canal systems around Lakeport, buckhead, and the okeechobee city limits.  Windy I would seek them out.

From the south end I would head to Harney Pond Canal, Uncle Joe’s Cut,

7 Mile if the water is up.

There are some protected areas in Pelican Bay (I was just there) but not many.

If you wanted to run to the north end @geo g is exactly right.
I’m told The B.A.S.S. Nations State Championship was won up there.

(I suggested to my 2nd day boater we should head that way but didn’t.

What Mike and Geo said.

Uncle Joe’s cut is where I’d start and there used to be some “cuts” along it that would allow you to go through and fish protected areas, but don’t know if they exist anymore.
Crankbaits in the rim canal have won many tournaments on the big O.
