Dobyns Extreme Dx744c

Featured Replies

Lol… so I thought an Xp 744c was leaning on the tree … well it was a Dx744c ?. With that said was going to use the xp744 for my main 1/2oz Jig rod.. What would u all do here? Keep the Dx744c to toss Trigs and jigs up to 3/8 or Send back for a dx745 since it can a throw a tic more? And am about to order another rod .. was going to grab a xp765 or xp766….hmmm keep the Dx744 instead of sending back for dx745 and grab the xp765.. sounds like a plan. Such  tuff decisions …. Still can’t believe she stepped it up the Dx… she must have a big to do list up her sleeve she’s holding off on handing me?.. thanks hun!!

Or you've just been that good to her the past year. :kiss10:

I’ve had the dx744 and was not happy with it. I say up-gauge to a 745. Personally, anything 4 power from Dobyns are good moving bait rods. If you want solid frog/jig/Texas rigs for 1/2 oz….5 power is where you want to be. Very versatile power rod.

Thanks for your input.. it’s  why I mentioned going 3/8 with this if I keep.. just compared tips although  from the Dx744 to my xp734.. the Dx tips seems a lot faster than the champ ,not that it’s going to make a difference to use it as a 1/2 oz jig rod but a lighter bottom contact rod I can see it doing well ..

line choice can affect that decision too. if your braid to leader the 4 power may be just fine. fluoro you may want to step up to the 5

Tough choice, but I would wager the DX744C would be pretty good T-Rig rod and for lighter and finesse jigs that could also handle moving baits pretty good.

I would be inclined to keep it and also add a DX745C myself. That would be a two rod pair that I would bring out with me a lot.
