Can someone explain to me rubber jigs and when they excel?

also what's the main difference between round live rubber/ flat rubber

does the difference kinds of rubber matter?

    For me it is longevity.  Round rubber lasts for years rolled up.  Flat rubber sticks together and ruins.  Fishing I see no difference.
