Can you run 2 Lowrance 520c units off the same antenna??

Featured Replies

Is it possible to run two 520c units off the same antenna???

Do they make a "coupler" to join two units together to one antenna??

Thanks,

Alan (bassnajr)

Yes, all you need to do is link both units and the antenna (either LGC 3000 or 4000) via the NMEA 2000 network.  Your antenna is linked to one unit via the network already.  You just need to run additional network Ts and extensions to the other unit.

How much is this "networking" gonna cost??

I think I looked into this at one time, and it was the reason I put two seperate antennas on the boat. One of the antennas went down....guess I am screwed. :)

It seems to me all you will need is a 15 ft network extension ($40).  If you were running 2 independent antennas, you should already have the required Tees, 120 ohm terminators, and short extensions from the Tees to the units.

I have none of these. As I remember, for all the "t"s etc. the cost was prohibitive, that's why I ran the two separately. The units only came with the antenna and the power cord.

But, if they were hooked up properly, the antennas should be connected to each unit via a Tee with terminators on each end, then a short network extension from the Tee to the back of the unit.  See bottom of page 13 of pdf link below

Are you saying that your antennas are connected directly to the back of the unit?
