Here in Northeast Ohio there are many good Bass lakes that only allow electric motors. I would like to see pictures of your electric only Bass boat. I would think a Jon Boat would be a good base because it should go faster than a V shaped boat.

The fastest electric only set up I have seen is a 16' Carolina Skiff with two electric outboards (48V Reservoir Runner) and 36V bow mounted trolling motor. The second fastest was the same rig with just one of the electric outboards.

I was talking to the guy with the dual electic outboard set up today and he told me the top speed is 24mph.

The key to speed is to eliminate as much hull draft as possible with the weight you will be carrying. Basically a wider hull bottom is better regardless of hull design.

My boat is a 20' jon with a 60volt Ray electric outboard.  A 24volt bow mount.  I carry 14 batteries on the boat and top out around 8 miles an hour.  24 mph in an electric boat is not real possible  without some crazy motor with very little battery life.  The only high speed electric boats run on 120 volts which would reguire 10 12 volt batteries at high speed these will only last a minute or two. 

I bet a little prop work would do wonders for the top end. Maybe 2-3 mph increase with the right work. Just wondering if anyone is tweaking on those things yet.

The problem with electric is the boat will only be as fast as it can be.  It mostly depends on the displacment of the hull.  You could over come it but it would reguire alot of power which means lots of batteries which means lots of weight and a slower boat.  Hard to make an electric boat fast without sacrificing run time.

The guy with the two electric outboards told me he switched to 6V batteries this year from the 12V he was using to get a longer run time. Whatever battery life he got was only needed for about a mile run each way. He just liked to get there first and wanted to fish longer before returning to the ramp.

My Tracker has a 9.9 4-stroke and it only goes 7.5 mph on a cool day when I can get the whole 6,000 rpm with a 6.5 pitch prop.

When I lived in Maryland (where electric is the only thing allowed in the reservoirs back then) I went fishing with a guy in Liberty Reservoir. We put in around Rte 26 somewhere and went all the way to the top of the lake which is several miles. He had a washing machine motor rigged to the lower unit of a small outboard (don't ask me how, I'm not an engineer). He used 4 6v Golf cart batteries. We fished all day and never had a problem. It was awesome compared to fishing Rocky Gorge in my 14' Jon boat with a 36 Thrust Minn Kota.
