Best jigs to put a Queen Tackle Switch Blade on?

Featured Replies

I have had some Queen Tackle Switch Blades sitting around for awhile and haven't gotten around to using them more than once or twice and I think the reason why is because I can never quite decide what jig to put them on. The times I did use them I would just rip the weedguard out of swimjig and put it on and usually it ran OK, but I am interested to see how other people use them. Swimjig? Football? Weedguard or no? Skirt colors? Any answer is appreciated.

I use them, they start vibrating at the start of retrieve. Alot cheaper than zman. And it vibes better..

Ive been pretty interested in these but haven’t pulled the trigger yet.. does the black hold up better than the jackhammers?  Is Large or regular a more “standard” size blade?

Go regular for a standard size. The large is pretty darn big.

I've played with Queen blades on a variety of jigs and have a few favorites. On the right head they start immediately and hunt well.

The G-Money Swimbait heads are 4/0 hooks with room for a skirt but thinner wire than a jackhammer hook  They are nice for the pond fishing I do with lighter gear. Screenshot_20220714-143024_Chrome.thumb.jpg.4bcc2074298d9f6af6df8030a67eca17.jpg

I also like the Dirty Jigs Matt Allen heads because they also have room for a skirt and a wire keeper. I singled both of these out because they have a 30 degree hook and slightly bigger eye openings.

I've also tried out tungsten swing head footballs with a flipping hook and skirt (bottom row). They run well and are can be fished deep easily.

The other two are the Phenix Swim Jig Original Vibrator Jig Without Blade (top row) and D&M Custom Baits Piranha Swim Jig (middle row). Both of these have eyes that can be opened with pliers to place on a normal blade with no split ring (which each company also sells). Both are fine but I'm not crazy about them. The Phenix hooks are not great and the D&M eye wire is so thick the blade has less freedom and requires some startup force. I'm sure there is a better head out there.

Been toying around with these lately myself. For anyone curious about the blade sizes below is a pic of a jackhammer next to one I made with a queen large size blade and a 1/2 oz terminator swim jig, a super value jig at $3.50, and being a lot less pointy than many swimjigs it has a great clack against the blade. I was also able to rig the blade up with a tactical anglers style clip which I'm really liking.
