US Tatula 100 VS JDM?

Featured Replies

Is there any difference in the standard black Tatula 100’s and the JDM version? (Digitaka).

I think they are both Malaysia reels? I don’t see any differences spec wise, but the “JDM” is definitely cheaper.

JDM anything is cheaper right now due to the exchange rate.  It has been very, very good recently.  Heck, the '21 Calcutta Conquest 100 is something like $550 here, or ~$400 if you buy the JDM variant.  While the exchange rate is good now, at times it wasn't and the prices reflected that accordingly.

But is there any difference in the two reels?

I’m no expert on this matter but there are several members on here who routinely buy JDM and most times it appears to be a difference in color, handle length and sometimes the gears are aluminum (JDM) vs brass (USDM). I purchased a Tatula 80 and it’s my understanding the only difference is handle length which doesn’t bother me.

Buy a JDM Zillon.  You like smooth don't you?

How much different for the two? I buy oversea reels only when the one I want is not available here or the price is way cheaper. If price difference is only 10-20 bucks it might not worth going cheaper route but lost warranty. Beside Daiwa now have promotions free hooded t-shirt when buying any Tatula rod-reel.
