Trolling autopilot

Featured Replies

I realize that the sheer cost of an "autopilot" trolling setup probably deters a lot of people.  But does anyone have an autopilot type setup or use one?  How do you like it/not like it?

LongMike has a MinnKota I pilot that will do that, and he absolutely loves it.

It will hold a position, or follow a preset course.

I have an I pilot too great investment, I love the anchor feature for windy conditions. It is an expensive motor 1500 plus I had to get the shaft cut down from 60" to 45" that was another 150. But with all of the features it makes it worth it in my opinion. You can run the whole trolling motor with only the remote if you want you do not even need the foot pedal.

As Fishing Rhino said, I absolutely love it.  No more cables and pedals to clutter the front deck.  My 80 lb thrust motor enables my boat to "anchor" in place and the built-in GPS will keep me within a five foot radius, regardless of reasonable wind and current.  I can set a course and the GPS will keep me on that course.  I can record a course and the iPilot will allow me to track back and forth along that course.  I can record a waypoint and the iPilot will return me to that point, provided I'm within 1/4 mile of it.  The iPilot has so many features that I fully believe that the technology will revolutionize the trolling motor industry, just has side imaging has done for depth finders.
