hand steered trolling motor - battery and charger?

Featured Replies

my girlfriend is having some back muscle problems and was told to stay off the kayak for a while so i ordered a Minn Kota Endura 50lb 42" trolling motor (12v) to attach to alumium boats that we will rent. ($197 at Walmart compared to $240+)

What are the specs that im looking for in a deep cycle marine battery to power this motor? any brand recommendations that are a good value?

what specs am i looking for in a charger? would you recommend any particular model?

thanks in advance

Group 27 or 29 maxx marine deep cycle battery from wal mart. I use a group 27 with a minnkota traxis 55 and have never run short of battery pushing a scanoe around. This particular TM does have the maximizer. I've used a Shumacher 12 amp charger and been happy with it. It was $40 new on the 'bay. I'm reasonably sure it is this model: http://cgi.ebay.com/Schumacher-12-amp-SpeedCharge-Battery-Charger-2-8-12A-/140426094399?cmd=ViewItem&pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item20b20c273f
