Can't crack Ti

Featured Replies

I've been to Ti a few times now and I just can't seem to crack this place. I see/hear about 20+ bags and for whatever reason I just can't seem to find them. I fished from down by the "piles" below the fort to about 1.5 miles from Crown Point bridge and only caught 2 good fish. Spoke to some of my friends who were up there the same weekend and they did well. We all threw the same baits, white/chartreuse chatterbait, flipped dark colored creatures, black worms/senkos. I've read its all about finding the "right weeds," so I spent a lot of time working what looked like good weed beds on NY and VT shores.

Are the successful guys staying away from weed beds that are in completely milky/chocolate water and fishing the weed beds with slightly more visibility? Do I need to just be more patient? How do you guys do on topwater there? Not asking for anyone's favorite spot/hole...just a little guidance on what to look for down there. If I was in a pickerel/pike tournament I for sure would've been top 5 - but I could not get on 'em the past couple of times I've been!

The right weeds for me there are milfoil near deeper ledges.

Interesting - I saw lots of boats very far into coves and assumed I needed to be really shallow - seems like I should be backing off a bit fishing from deeper water into shallow water.

Generally coontail with milfoil mixed is the ticket.  That being said none of the VT locals think Ti is good anymore.  Too many years of big girls getting dragged to Plattsburgh.  Give it a few more years for their kids to grow up.
