What is the difference between these 2 props?

Featured Replies

I knew eventually it would happen in the river,  I finally dinged my prop and bent one of the blades.  It is aluminum,  I won't even think about a S/S for the river and my boat isn't a speed demon anyway.  I have been looking up the part number that is on my prop,  and it looks like it is a Merc Black Max.  I also see that there is a Quicksilver prop that matches it but it is a different part number.  Specs look to be the same.  What is the difference in the quality of the props or are they the same with different paint?  I want to keep the same prop on the boat as it seems to perform ok for what it is.( 90 HP Four Stroke on a 18' Tracker Targa W/T  does about 38 mph)  Thanks for your help.

Quiksilver = Mercury ....probably the same prop if I had to guess.

Can you get the prop retooled? Should cost about 1/2 of what a new prop will run. I'd still get a 2nd prop to minimize time off the water.

That is my plan.  I did not hurt this prop too bad so I will get it repaired and use it as a spare.  I did find the Black Max prop at the marina I deal with so I got the same part number and they did say Quicksilver and Merc are the same.  I will be changing props tomorrow night.
