Ranger Z20 Deal Question

Featured Replies

I have someone that has a 2005 Z20 and is wanting to get rid of it, they told me they would sell it to me for 10k and that there is nothing wrong with it they just need to sell it ASAP. Its got a 225 VMAX on it and I think it's also the Comanche series. Supposedly less than 200 hours on the motor. Anyways I looked at other sales of the same or close to the same model and all of them were selling for 20,000 plus, so I'm asking the opinions of people here, is that just way too good of a deal and more than likely the boat is messed up big time in some way?

If it was legit and I was to go look at it for serious purchase what things would I look for and if we took it on a test run what else would I look for, I've never owned a boat before but have been doing everything I can to save up and get one

It's either messed up or stolen.  Go to the test drive and get the hull and license plate numbers.  Then report it to the police.

If a deal sounds too good to be true, it usually is.  That being said, in this economy, the guy could also be selling it to get some bills paid or whatnot.  Take Glenn's advice and get the hull ID number, the trailer numbers, and the tag numbers.  Search around to see if it's a hot boat.  If it checks out from the cops, make sure you take it on a test drive and get it checked out by a qualified marine mechanic.

If it is legit with good titles, I'll go out on a limb and take it. will drive up this week and do the test run. Let me know.

The motor's worth more than 10 g's.

you might have a good deal but go ahead and check the numbers...http://www.boatfax.com/component/option,com_bfx_checkit/Itemid,184/
