On the San Jacinto river this afternoon running a new prop. Never should have been there. Water was rolling due to all the rain and not safe. Up on the pad, driving through some chine walk, fighting the rolling currents and what do i do? Twist in the seat to relocate and pulled the kill-switch lanyard.

Can you say "Go Left?"

I don't recommend it. It's hard on the pants.

Glad you stayed in the boat, soiled pants or not. :o Rivers make me nervous under ideal conditions. Performance boat on swollen river-no thank you. I bet you don't do that again. :)

Not likely. It was a two fisted driving job to begin with. Not one of my smarter moves, no life jacket on either. Even dumber move.

Tell you what, you're one lucky SOB.  Whatever God you pray to, you better thank him/her.

OxyClean those undies.

Some of us get lucky and live to tell about it, some don't. Every one who has spent much time on the water has done some boneheaded stuff. I have had a few of those, "I'll never do that again" moments. Some have enough sense to learn from others; most of us have to learn the hard way. Dumb guys like me sometimes have to learn more than once.  :-[ Maybe your story will keep someone from making the same mistake. 8-)

Exactly why i posted this. I preach wearing the PFD and watching the things you can control. Got in a hurry, decided to leave the PFD in the rod box. What the heck, it was just going to be a quick half mile run down and back. Could have been a lot worse.

Bruises on the right arm and thigh, not to mention ribs up under my right armpit.

It's bad enough when you're on a lake or pond and it gets rough.  On a river, swollen by rains, you not only have a faster current, but also stronger eddies and swirling currents, making for a much hairier situation.
