Basic Fish Finder Question

Featured Replies

Can someone tell me what I'm looking at on this image? Is it saying there is 2' +/- of weeds on the bottom?

Thanks

Does look like that is the case…but why is your scale reversed and the depth showing 7 ft? Keep a jigging spoon handy to drop down and snag stuff you see on your finder to start learning and associating ‘what you see’ with ‘what it is.’ Weeds usually pull up easily allowing for specific identification.

Poking around on the internet it looks like "bottom lock" must be on, I'll see if I can change it tomorrow. Thanks for the tip on jigging, I'll try it. Trying to figure out if the yellow at the base of the display is mud or weeds or a combination of the 2,  as in muck.

Also you might want to play with your sensitivity a bit. If those are weeds, there should be more space between them and not the wide yellow bands. The yellow bands indicate a strong return which weeds are not. I’d bump it back 3-5 settings and see if it looks more like strands of grass.

Will do, thanks. Obviously I'm a rookie at it.
