Using "Sea Foam"

Featured Replies

I recently put some Sea Foam in my gas tank to help clean the fuel system. How often is it safe to use it? If there's still some in my tank at the end of season, do I still use Stabil with the gas? Thanks.

Did you read the label on the Sea Foam can?

It does the same as Stabil, Startron, Quickclean, etc.,

Use it all the time every time. Double the mixture for storage.

I use a combination of Seafoam, Marine Stabil and Quickleen in every tank as recommended on another forum.

1 oz. to 6 gal. Seafoam and Quickleen, 1 oz. to 10 gal. Stabil. My original plugs are close to 3 yrs. old and still perfect. 250ProXS

Just use the SeaFoam, it will do everything all those others do.  If you use your boat at least every month or so, run 1/2 oz per gallon.  If the boat is going to sit a few months add an additional 1/2 oz per gallon, get it mixed in good and run it on the hose for several minutes to give that time get into the carbs/injectors.   You're engine will luv you, but you're mechanic might forget your name.

As previously mentioned.  If you are using SeaFoam you do not need any other additive.  It does it all.......

I wouldn't make a "cocktail" with all that, Seafoam is a cleaner designd for use as needed and a preventative. I sell seafoam on a daily basis and I know the sales rep very well. Seafoam is differnent than say Stabill Ethenol treatment, stabill is designed to neutralize ethenol in you gas to keep it from detererating hoses and lines on your motor and in your boat. Seafoam will boost octain and well as clean and lubricate, at most every other tank. Mixing all those additives will only hurt your boat then help it. Trust me I LOVE Seafoam and im a big believer in it but dont abuse it.

also if your new to using it add seafoam to a full tank dont put seafoam in and then the fuel, it is an instant activator.

JohnnyBigger, explain the "instant activator" statement.

Seafoam deals with the moisture problems due to E-10 also.

When you add Seafoam it instantly activates to the amount of fuel that it comes into contact with, for example if added to 5 gallons of gas it will effect the 5 gallons only, so when you add too the five gallons that gas is not effected, but when you add it to a full tank of say 20 gallons it will effect the whole 20 gallons

SO, does that mean if I put 5 ounces of Sea Foam in an empty gas can and add 5 gallons of gas, the first drop of gas gets "activated" and none of the other is?

But if I put 5 gals of gas in the can and then add 5 ounces of Sea Foam, then all of the 5 gals of gas is "activated". How does the bottom of the container get "activated" without agitation?

If the "activation" is "instant" how can the amount added after the first drop contacts the gas affect the whole 5 gals.?

"Instant" does not allow for any mixture time to occur.

I wish I knew the sceintific part of the process but that is how the they explained it to me. To me if you have a completely emty tank then yes you should be able to add the seafoam first but I dont think that will happen very often. I will try to get the PDF sheet from the Sales Rep the next time see him.
