  1. As previously noted, KVD L&L will make a noticeable difference in any type of line you use it on, although it was specifically developed for flourocarbon and braid. Unlike other products which are petroleum based and will only coat the line, L&L bonds to the line and is only removed through friction. It will also not harm your reels. Also, be sure to use it on spinning reels. It really helps with the coiling, etc., you get with spinning reels.
  2. You might want to take a look at the Lock-n-Haul advanced transom savers. I have been using one on my 250 ProXS for a year and a half and it works great. It is the only 4-point inline load motor stow available. It completely stops all movement of the motor which prevents stress on the transom. Since it is not attached to the trailer, road shock is not transferred to the motor or transom.
  3. L&L will bond to , not just coat, whatever type of line it is used on. It was developed specifically for the problems associated with flourocarbon and braid, although it will help with the manageability of many other types of line. It's very good in helping with the problems of using any type of line on spinning reels.
  4. Line and Lure is a water based polymer that bonds to your line as stated previously. Most other products are petroleum based and only coat the line. If you use them on your line and put the line in the water, you can see a "slick" on the water from the coating coming off. Not only does L&L bond to the line, it will not harm your reels or the environment. It is very high in UV protection and because it bonds to the line, the polymer coating wears before your line does, which increases the longevity of your line.
  5. Guys, you might also keep in mind that Abu is coming out with the new Verdict rod soon. As a matter of fact, I think BPS has them on-line. They should be lighter in weight and have an adjustable handle. I think they sell for $130. I'm looking forward to seeing them.
  6. I throw a Rig probably 80% of the time and have done so for years. I have absolutely no concerns about knots failing. As already stated, the main thing to remember is to keep a close check on your leader and main line above the swivel for frays. I use a palomar knot for all connections and never have any knot related failures.
  7. I use a combination of Seafoam, Marine Stabil and Quickleen in every tank as recommended on another forum. 1 oz. to 6 gal. Seafoam and Quickleen, 1 oz. to 10 gal. Stabil. My original plugs are close to 3 yrs. old and still perfect. 250ProXS
  8. Althought they are pricey, in my opinion, the Mustang HIT is the only way to go for the reasons already stated. I have been wearing one for around 5 years. It actually saved my life when I was thrown out of my boat in 2008 due to a steering malfunction.
  9. I also use 17# XPS flouro. I would highly recommend applying KVD Line&Lure between trips. It will keep it very manageable and extend it's longevity.
  10. Line and Lure is a water based polymer and will actually bond to the line. Reel Magic is petroleum based and I don't know about the Ardent. Another good thing abouit L&L is it won't affect your reels and will actually prevent corrosion on them.
  11. I have to agree. The reason I'm here today to write this is because of my Mustang. Two years ago, I was thrown out of my boat when a hydraulic steering hose came off and I lost my steering. Even though I was only breaking in a new motor that day, I was wearing my vest and kill switch as is my habit. It saved my life.
  12. Nitro 882, how much do you want for the alarm system?
  13. The Mustang HIT models will only activate if submersed 4 inches under the water. I have been wearing one for about 5 years in all weather conditions and it absolutely will not go off. I just wore it in a driving rain all day Sunday.
  14. I use braid with a flourocarbon leader for finesse fishing on spinning gear. With braid, you don't have the memory problems, line twist, etc. The flouro. leader gives you the invisible link to your bait. I attach them with a blood knot. I don't use any particular leader length, haven't seen where it makes a difference. I'm using 10-14# Crystal braid with a 8# flouro. leader. Put some KVD Line & Lure on the night before and I think you'll be pleased.
  15. Check out Lock-n-Haul. It is adjustable and will fit the majority of brands, sizes of outboards. It is the only inline 4 point motor totor available and will stop all movement of your motor.
  16. I have been wearing a Mustang hydrostatic model for 4-5 years. I bought the HIT model so I could wear it an all weather conditions. I wear it all the time and will literally forget I have it on. When I get out of the drivers seat, I pull the kill switch lanyard and leave it hanging from the vest. I was thrown out of my boat 2 years ago due to a steering malfunction. I was running around 45. The vest worked perfectly and literally saved my life in the 45 degree water. There are pros and cons about the inflatable vests. All I know is I can vouch for the one I have.
  17. In regards to using a cloth, it is fine to do so, just use a synthetic material. The polymers in L&L like to adhere to natural fibers and you won't get the full benefit of the product.
  18. I would highly recommend BTS, which is a sponsor on this site. It is an all surface protectant and can be used on just about any surface of your boat. It is a polymer sealant which cleans dirt out of the pores of your gelcoat, seats, etc., and then seals dirt out. You put it on every month or so and just wipe your boat down with a wet rag in between. I've never heard of anyone yet that tried it and didn't love it.
  19. I have used both. Since I've changed to BTS, I honestly don't think there's a comparison. The thing that really sold me on BTS is the fact that you don't put it on every time you use the boat. BTS is a sealant which actually bonds to your gel coat, etc., and seals out contaminants. You put it on once every month or so, depending on the condition of your boat. It would just seem to me that if you have to put a product on your boat every time you use it, it just coats the surface instead of bonding to it.
  20. Whatever flouro. you use, Line & Lure will help to extend the life of it. Unlike other products which are oil based and just coat the line, L&L is a water based polymer and actually bonds to the line. This coating can only come off by friction and will wear before the line does. I used the same BPS flouro. the first part of this year with no problems and only re-spooled as I was concerned about unseen knicks in the line. I'm in the same boat as a lot of people with the high cost of flouro. I try to make it last as long as I can.
  21. I've been using BPS flouro with real good luck. Whatever brand you settle on, I would highly recommend spraying it with KVD Line&Lure prior to each use. Flourocarbon is quite stiff compared to mono and the Line&Lure will really make a difference in it's manageability. Spray it on the night before so it has time to dry for maximum effect.
  22. Just last week I re-spooled some BPS XPS flouro. on my reels that had been on there since the beginning of the year. The line was treated with Line & Lure before every trip and was still in perfect condition. I just re-spooled due to a couple of big tournaments coming up and not wanting to take a chance on nicks in the line I wasn't aware of. All I know is that Line & Lure works for me.
  23. Something you might want to try is using KVD Line & Lure Conditioner to help with the manageability of any flourocarbon. L&L was made specifically for flouro. and braid. Spray some L&L on your flouro. prior to using so it has time to dry. I think you'll see a marked improvement in the manageability.
  24. Dink whisperer, Rob Faddis has got a sale on BTS right now for Bass Resource members. Go to page 2 in the General Bass Fishing Forum and you'll see the details. You will get a special price on BTS with some KVD Line & Lure Conditioner thrown in. I think you'll be pleased.
  25. First, let me say that I'm on the BTS Pro Staff so you can say I'm biased if you want. I used BBS for 2-3 years and recommended it to all my friends. I started reading about BTS and the fact that you only apply it every 30 days or so and that it actually bonds to the surface and seals the contaminants out. Since you apply BBS every time you use the boat, I thought BTS might be worth trying. Even though BBS is a good product, after using BTS, I would never go back. I think that's the key, try both and judge for yourself. By the way, it can be used on practically any surface. Some people are even using it on their tow vehicles, etc.
