I had the corner of the Stratos decal start to peel the other day from rubbing on a dock for a few minutes on a windy day. I most certainly didn't expect that to happen in the time it takes to park a truck. There is maybe an inch worth of decal that won't stick anymore.

What would be the best way to reapply the edge so that the decal doesn't continue to peel? I'm thinking I'll swab it with alcohol and a Q-Tip and apply a little Marine Goop with a toothpick. Then tape it down for a few hours to dry.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I'd check with a sign company that makes decals.  They should be able to tell you.

Don't use model airplane glue.  It will soften the plastic decal.  I used it once to glue down the edge of a registration number.

It worked, but it attacked the plastic.  No big deal on that, but I wouldn't recommend it for your Stratos decal.

I did exactly that.  They advisd me to use 3M Super 77 Spray Adhesive.  I did, and it works very well.  I sprayed a little on the underside of the boat first to see how easy it was to remove once it dried, and it turned out to be very easy to remove with 3M rubbing compound.  3M Finesse It 2 glaze didn't quite have the grit to get it off.

Good deal.  Now we all know.

Spray 77 is some awesome stuff.  I use it all the time in my shop.  My only complaint is that sometimes the surfaces that I've glued will lift a bit if it gets too hot for too long. I've got no clue how durable it would be in a marine environment though.  I hope that the company you talked to knows what they're talking about.  Keep your eye on it for a while to make sure it doesn't lift in the heat.

Thanks for the info, SoFla.  It doesn't get too hot up here, but it is a dark green boat, so we'll see.  I had to spray it into a bottle cap and apply it with a Q-Tip, but I don't think that it will bond any differently than if it were sprayed onto the surface.

We used truck decals w/ 3M adhesives, They also sell an edge sealer that you can brush around the edges to prolong the life of applied signs, etc. That helped the longevity of signs on aluminum tankers that were frequently exterior washed w/ hot water pressure washers.
