Middle Rappahonock River Virginia

Last couple of times out we have had some tough fishing.  We launch at Hopyard and normally go upriver.  We have alternated between upriver and downriver without much to show for it.  Bass have been picky but we have managed a few on Ned’s, Dropshot and cranks.  Tide has been tricky as well.  On our last trip we went downriver and managed some bass, a good crappie on a Dropshot and a good smallmouth on a crank.

Going to give it another shot tomorrow.  We are hoping to hit the fall feed bag one of these trips.

Thought I would just update this post rather than start a new one.  Went out Saturday and had a little better luck but I think the wacky weather has them lockjawed.  Believe me we fished everything structure wise and cover wise.  Could have caught a lot of Ring Perch if we would have stayed on the spot for the entire tide but we were hunting green fish.  Found a few but not like normal.  Crappie came at the end of the day as an experiment since we normally don’t target them on this river.  If fishing for them all day I think we could have put a couple limits in the boat.
