13 Fishing Fuse vs Envy

Featured Replies

Any users of either or both of these models?  Opinions?

46T graphite tends to make me believe they'd be very light and sensitive.

I've only used the first generation of Envy Black and Envy Green. They're not that light, but pretty sensitive for the $200 price tag. And I have never experienced any breakage like others. The $300 price of the second and third gen is pushing it IMO, but right now, Amazon is having some second gens on sale around $100.

No idea about the Fuse series, but the $450 price is a bit ridiculous IMO - this is the territory of premium rods like Legend Elite and GLX. Heck you can even get a decent custom rod for that price.

Spinning or casting? I've fished with my friend's 7'3" M Envy III/Alde 50. Slick combo. Not quite as light as a Phenix Feather, but it has a really nice feel. 13's actions run pretty true to rating yet on the crisp side, and possibly 1/2 a power up in most cases. Think M+ when you buy a M and so on. The Envy is worth a shot with current sales, IMO. You can always return it if it doesn't rate for you.

Just got this yesterday for distance slinging light baits.

Personally, I would stay away from the fuse.  They have been out for some time and if the concept showed promise, 13 would have further developed the line with new iterations.  Fuse just seems like the answer to a question no one really asked.

I havent gotten my hands on an Envy 3, but they look sharp, real clean and simple, reminds of a loomis almost.  Im sure theyre nice rods, but they have a whole lor of good competition at that price point.

Yeah, I was sorta thinking that about the Fuse to be honest, but wanted others' opinions.

The $450 price puts it in the ultra-premium range for me.

Used a friend's Fuse for a day and was not impressed at all. It was a shame because while 13fishing isn't one of the bigger players in the rod game, I'd like to believe that smaller brands can make competitive high end rods too. I had previously fished with a Fate Green and actually really ended up enjoying the action of the rod, it had character beyond the average sub-100$ MH/F rod. I really enjoy high end rods - but I like to think I can also appreciate a good lower end rod too and that was one of em. Unfortunately though I was not as impressed with the Fuse. As odd as this comparison will sound, the Fuse fished like a good cheap rod. It honestly reminded me of a duckett rod. At the price point, the sensitivity is not very competitive, nor is the build quality in my opinion. I honestly really wanted to like the rod, but I think anything over 250$ is probably best spent within a bigger brand.
