I really like this Daiwa reel. I notice that it is the same frame as the Daiwa Tatula 80. AlieExpress has a DIY BFS spool for the Tatula 80. Would this DIY spool fit and work on the Coastal 80?

Yes.

If Daiwa employed the same scheme in the Coastal 80 as they did in the Tat 300 to achieve double bearing pinion support that they're claiming the 80 has, there will be a bearing on the spool. If that's the case, then no.
