evergreen gizmo

Featured Replies

has anyone fished this? I have frogs, micro frogs, poppers, my modified hula popper, whopper ploppers, pretty much all the topwaters there is to own.

Was thinking of grabbing this bait but not sure if its really going to be much different than anything I already own. I have been looking for a lure that simulates a dragon fly, this seems to fit the bill.

Just wondering if anyone else has it, and what their thoughts were on it.

Do you fish rivers? Smallmouth?

Those are my two main applications for it. I love drifting these for smallmouth. I will occasional use them at others times, like tossing them under docks seems to work pretty well. They truly have a very small unique profile and I would consider them unique to anything else on the market.

If you really want to see them in action look up Nolan Minor's Hobie BOS win on the Susquehanna River using the Evergreen Gizmo on youtube.

I mostly fish small man made ponds or lakes. Public park lakes etc. I'm going to get one

If you end up liking that lure.  In the future you could find a local fly store  who makes/sells hoppers and crickets for fly fishing.  Or possibly make your own flys that resemble grass hoppers, crickets, or what ever bug you desire.

It's something I have been interested in. I UL fish alot so throwing flies from it is possible. A member of the forum gave me a old vice and some flies. I haven't used them much as I don't have much free time anymore like I used to, but what sent me down this path is the waters I have access to are extremely pressured. So fly fishing is ultra finesse. The fish have seen just about everything but in the summer I think some flies like that would do really good.

I modified the smallest hula popper, by removing the skirt, and tying on a regular rubber skirt. Then trimmed it it into a puff ball around the treble. It doesn't look like much but it has a great insect profile from the bottom looking up, it's worked really good, everything bites it. I even caught a large carp on it, and carp a finicky and scare easily.

I look forward to trying it on the bigger hula poppers as well
