Mounting my new Terrova

Featured Replies

Just got a new Terrova 36V, 101#, w/ipilot.  Need to get this thing mounted on the bow.

When I took the old (and original 1999) MG TM off, the holes in the bow were filled with some Motorguide rubber bushings.  How are these things fastened in the bow?  I can't get them out without drilling them out.

And...

Are there any new bushings for the MK to use for mounting it?  I bought the Terrova off a guy that had it for two months.  He didn't send any rubber bushings with it.

The rubber bushing are isolators and have a nut that is built in to them on the bottom.  They fasten by installing a bolt so the bottom of the isolator compresses and spreads out to hold.  It is not uncommon to have to drill or cut these off to get old ones out.  It is possible that the terrova will have a different mounting pattern than your motorguide.  Isolators are available from just about any marine dealer that sells trolling motors.  You may have to come up with some sort of adapter plate if you want to use your existing holes.

Yeah, the bolt pattern is not even close.  I was gonna just fill them somehow and drill new ones.  It'd be great if I could figure out a way to use the old holes.

Your're right.  The bolt pattern is nowhere near close.  Plan on drilling all new mounting holes.  You are gonna love that Terrova.

I have an adaptor bracket for my Terrova 36v 101 when I ordered my 2011 Z-7 I took a credit from the dealer on the stock motor and had the dealer do the trade out and install. It's a good solid mount don't get the aluminum slider as it has some play in it I had it on my Tracker Deep V.

I think I'm gonna build an aluminum adapter plate out of 3/8" plate aluminum.  I'll bolt it to the boat using the old holes and then drill the holes for the terrova.

Sounds good.
